PRESENTATION OF THE

„MANAGEMENT(ENGLISH LANGUAGE) BACHELOR’S DEGREE PROGRAMME 

 

The mission of the bachelor’s degree programme Management full-time courses in English at the Faculty of Law and Economics Constanta is didactic and of scientific research. The didactic mission is in line with the name of the study programme, as well as with the field of undergraduate studies, Management, in which it falls. The bachelor's degree programme Management full-time courses in English is concerned with the interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary training of future graduates in economics, in the field of Management, providing them with real chances in the competition on the European and internal labour market. Students are offered the opportunity to become specialists with solid Management training, able to cope with the complex problems of national and international firms in which they are working or will be working.

During the three-year study period of the bachelor’s degree study programme Management in English, the acquisition of fundamental and specialist knowledge in the field of management is ensured, allowing graduates to work as: Counsellor/expert/inspector/referent/economist in management, Firm Administrator, Project Manager, Process Responsible, Consultant in management, Assistant of research economist in management, Marketing Manager (tariffs, contracts, purchases), Small firm Manager, Product Responsible, Head of wholesale and retail services, Chief of wholesale and retail office, Head of department food/non-food goods, Area Manager, Manager in tourism, Director of travel agency, Hotel Administrator. Graduates of the study programme will be able to carry out activities as economists specializing in management, within organizations such as: domestic or foreign trade firms, banks, agencies and commercial representations in the country and abroad, government bodies, diplomatic and consular missions, international organizations, research and educational establishments which require a specialization.

The didactic process is conducted on the basis of the approved curriculum according to the law. The curriculum is harmonized, from the point of view of disciplines, with the structure of the Management curricula applied internally and at European level, and it is based on the ECTS European Credit Transfer System. The structure of the curricula includes fundamental disciplines, specialized disciplines in the field and complementary disciplines, grouped in turn into three categories: compulsory, optional and facultative. The general professional training is provided by the fundamental economic disciplines, which are found in the common trunk of the disciplines that cannot miss in the basic training of an economist, namely: economy, applied mathematics in economics, accounting, general management, business law, economic statistics, finance, etc.

Students' training is focused on disciplines in the field and specialty. The study of these disciplines is designed not only to enhance general professional training, but also to provide the essential knowledge, with the precise focus needed by an economics graduate in the field of Management, operating in a modern, competitive economy. As it results from the content of the curriculum, the disciplines of study are provided in a logical sequence and they precisely define the professional and transversal competencies for the field of undergraduate studies Management. The basic principles of the Management (English language) programme result from the inclusion in the curriculum area of newly shaped disciplines imposed by the requirements of a modern education, the necessity to adapt to the current needs of the knowledge society, of the international economy, but also to the requirements of the community market.

The disciplines included in the curriculum and their content, specified in the course description, correspond to bachelor’s degree in the field of Management and to study programme Management in English. Each academic year is structured into two semesters of 14 weeks, followed by 3 weeks of exams, the duration of the undergraduate studies being three years. Each year of study is assigned a number of 60 transferable study credits in the European System (ECTS), respectively 30 credits for each semester. The cycle of undergraduate studies contains 2114 hours, distributed as follows: 994 course hours and 1120 seminar hours, laboratories and practical activities. The quality of the educational process is also given by the way of organizing and carrying out the specialized practice. For good practice activity, there are continuous concerns for providing practice bases by maintaining permanent relationships with potential employers of our faculty graduates, economic entities or public, central and local sector institutions for activities in the field, as well as other interested economic agents. In this respect, conventions of practice have been concluded, stipulating the rights and obligations of the two parties.
